This morning I was flipping through my journal to write some inspirational words I received last night and came across a letter I wrote a few months ago. The last two years has been a lot of transitioning for me, learning about who I truly am as a person and being dedicated to becoming the woman God created me to be. During this time, it has taken much focus and determination to not be distracted by what and who is around me. As I wrote in past blog post, I was always the girl in a relationship (in which I thought each one was so serious), because of that I never spent time by myself learning who I really am. Of course during this transition there has been struggle, but the fruit of this journey is so much greater than the struggle. I am growing, becoming a better person and still learning.
The inspiration for starting this letter came from a popular trend amongst celebrities. In which they write a letter to their younger self, usually sharing wisdom they’ve gained or thoughts about their childhood. After reading the letter from Oprah Winfrey and Bethenny Frankel, I was inspired to write based on all that I’ve been learning about myself. I didn’t write with intentions on sharing, because I know I still have much to learn. However, this morning I was moved to share and as I continue to grow I will continue to write. My prayer is, that as my letter continues it will help another girl grow.
A Letter to Her:
Believe in yourself. Believe in your dreams. Believe in whom God created you to be. Embrace what is unique about you. Don’t let someone’s opinion of you change who you are. You are a precious jewel, created in the perfect way by God. Never let anyone dim your light… keep shining! Love yourself, love others and appreciate the life you’ve been given. You have a great power; a power to birth and nurture greatness. There isn’t anyone on earth that has your DNA. You are beautiful and unique; no one has your exact smile or exact eyes. Watch the company you keep. You don’t have to change your character to fit in. Be you! The ones that are suppose to be in your life will be there. Be happy, be carefree, be friendly, smile and hold your head up high. Carry that confidence with you wherever you go. Be a leader, set the standard for those who will follow you. You hold a great power to accomplish anything you set out to do. Try new foods, explore new places and meet new people. Never doubt your passion; work everyday to perfect it because your gift will make room for you…

On June 16th A STYLd LIFE had the privilege of styling a beautiful mom-to-be for her maternity photoshoot. We’ve been sharing some of the photos on our Facebook and Twitter pages but didn’t have the opportunity to blog about the beautiful day.
I have yet to experience pregnancy. However, I believe that it’s one of the most beautiful journeys that God has given women. I love when I see a woman embrace how her body changes during those 9 months. The natural glow and the clothing that accentuates the baby bump…Such a beautiful sight!
Jeanine is the perfect example of that woman. When planning her looks, Jeanine told us she wanted her maternity photos to express the beautiful journey to motherhood. We must say, Jeanine’s natural beauty made this shoot super simple for us.
Photographer, TG of Ubara Photo couldn’t have picked a better location to capture natural beauty. With the picturesque nature color palette at Linvilla Orchard there was no better choice than all white for Jeanine’s looks. We wanted all of Jeanine’s beauty to standout and the wardrobe be the icing on the cake.
We enjoyed working with the makeup artist (Charon Bratcher) and TG to make the vision come to life! Take a look at some of our fave shots!
1st look: Free People bandeau; Zara Maxi Skirt;
2nd look: ASOS Maternity Tank; Forver 21 denim; H by Halston pumps; PNK Elephant necklace; Jeanine’s earrings;

Last night I was scrolling through my timeline while watching the MTV red carpet and I stumbled upon a tweet about Miss USA airing on NBC. In the past Miss USA never peaked my interest, but for some reason I wanted to see what this huge production was all about.
I tuned in during the swimwear segment, and of course all the ladies had amazing bodies, makeup done to perfection and slick hair without a strand out of place. As I started to get a little bored, Miss Oklahoma walked out…I immediately set up in my bed and was glued to the screen. There is no doubt that she is gorgeous (Her hair color and flowy, flirty bangs are STRIKING!), but it was something more than the makeup and hair that was so intriguing.
As the camera scanned the stage of all the girls during the announcement of the Top 10 finalist, I looked out for Miss Oklahoma praying she would make it to the next round. As I watched all the girls, I realized Miss Oklahoma stood out from all the rest. There was something about her presence that exuded beauty from the inside that made her more than a beautiful face. I could go on and on about the actual competition, but that isn’t the purpose of this post. (fyi: Miss Oklahoma did make it to the Top 10)
When I woke up this morning, I got online to learn more about Miss Oklahoma. Some may think I’m crazy… but I am a lover of pure beauty! I am always so fascinated that it’s millions of women in the world but God created each woman very different from the next. The perfect mixture of a woman embracing what is different about her, accepting her flaws and stepping out with confidence makes her unstoppable!
Lauren Lundeen (Miss Oklahoma) is an example of a young woman who has beauty that is more than skin deep. She is a Godly woman living out her purpose and with style and grace. She tweeted this morning :
I thought this was so powerful because Lauren realizes, in doing what she loves and fulfilling her purpose she is glorifying God. A beautiful face may open doors, but what you have to offer keeps you there. Lauren has a big place in her heart for children; holding the title of Miss Oklahoma has given her the opportunity to volunteer with many organizations that focus on children’s needs.
Lauren is 20 years-old and has been a dancer for 16 years. Not wanting to give up on her dream of being a famous dancer she double majors in modern dance and human relations. Her long-term goal is to partner with a non-profit to open a dance studio, reaching out to underprivileged children. Lauren lives by “God’s plan for your life far exceeds the circumstances of your day.”
Lauren is connected to an industry that some only see beauty in skin. However, Lauren knowing she has more to offer she stands out with a beauty that many don’t understand. I knew nothing about Lauren when she caught my eye standing among many other “beautiful” women. Now, knowing more about her I complete understand why her beautiful spirit radiates in all that she does.
So ladies, I decided to share some of my morning thoughts with you to show that your beautiful face and body is NOT your meal ticket. God has put beauty in us that is more than skin deep and if we tap into whats inside we become more beautiful on the outside. We are all perfectly made to fit our purpose in life. Once understanding that, you will start to find beauty in flaws that you may have hated or tried to change in the past. LOVE who you are, LOVE what makes you different, LOVE that you have beauty that is more than skin deep.
